Radial slipping (slip) of the measuring system on the drive shaft must be
prevented by means of form closure by using a parallel key / groove
combination (Figure 1,) a coupling with groove must be used for this purpose.
Technical notes
NOTES!
The use of a hammer or similar tool during assembly,
disassembly and other work on the device is not permitted due to the risk of
damage to ball bearings and coupling!
Ambient temperature
The max. permissible ambient temperature depends on the speed and degree of protection of
the device and the place of installation.
Degree of protection
The device complies with the specified degree of protection (see chapter 4.3 “Ambient
conditions” on page 21) only with screwed-on mating connectors or blind plugs!
Deep groove ball bearings
Incremental encoders FG 41 are fitted with maintenance-free, greased "for-life" deep groove
bearings. Bearings must be changed by the manufacturer only.
Opening the encoder renders the guarantee null and void.
Screw retention
All fastening screws must be secured against unintentional loosening. We recommend using
Loctite
®
243 (thread locker medium strength).

Mounting preparations
Ensure all accessories are available.
NOTES!
Earth cable is not included in the scope of delivery.

Preparing the place of attachment: Clean the (motor) shaft, centering, bolting surfaces and
fastening threads; check for damage. Repair any damage!
