ad hoc

This is a conference initiation mode. In this mode, you can initiate a conference by using one
of the following methods:

Create a conference on the user interface of an MCU, and then call the participants to
enable them to join the conference.

On a video terminal, dial a predefined conference ID to join the corresponding
conference.

On a video terminal, dial a new (not predefined) conference ID to create a conference.

On a video terminal, access the lobby of an MCU, and then join a predefined conference
or an ongoing conference.

On a video terminal, access the lobby of an MCU, and then create a conference.

On a video terminal, dial a predefined conference ID to activate a conference. Then, the
MCU calls the others participants defined in the conference to enable them to join the
conference.

On a video terminal, predefine a multipoint conference. When initiating the conference,
the terminal sends the conference settings automatically to an MCU to create the
conference on the MCU.

Auto attendant

In telephony, an automated attendant (also known as auto attendant, auto-attendant,
autoattendant, or sometimes AA) allows callers to be automatically transferred to an extension
without the intervention of an operator (typically a receptionist). Many AAs will also offer a
simple menu system ("for sales, press 1, for service, press 2, etc.). An auto attendant may also
allow a caller to reach a live operator by dialing a particular number, for example '0'.

Automatic Repeat reQuest

Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ), also known as Automatic Repeat Query, is an error-control
method for data transmission that uses acknowledgements (messages sent by the receiver
indicating that it has correctly received a data frame or packet) and timeouts (specified period
of time allowed to elapse before an acknowledgment is received) to achieve reliable data
transmission over an unreliable service. If the sender does not receive an acknowledgment
before the timeout, it usually re-transmits the frame/packet until the sender receives an
acknowledgment or exceeds a predefined number of re-transmissions.

automatic speed reduction

A video terminal in a conference can automatically lower the transmission rate to ensure the
call quality if serious packet loss occurs on the terminal.

broadcast continuous presence

All the participants in a conference are forced to view the continuous presence set in the
conference.

broadcast (participant)

All participants, except the participant being broadcast, view the participant that is broadcast.
