3.3 Logging In to the MCU Using the SSH
The MCU supports Telnet and Secure Shell (SSH) login. Telnet is an insecure protocol and
disabled by default. SSH is a cybersecurity protocol for remote access in an insecure network
environment using the encryption and certification mechanism. When you use SSH to log in
to the MCU, all transmitted data are encrypted. To improve security, use SSH.
Prerequisites
All MCU boards can be configured using commands. Ensure that:
The MCU's main control board is connected to a network using a network cable. The
GE0 ports on all boards are reachable. (To test port reachability, run
ping
.)
describes the main control board of each MCU model.

The SSH client software is saved to the computer used to log in to the MCU.
This document uses PuTTY as an example.
Procedure
Step 1
Connect the client computer to the GE0 port on the mainboard of 8650C with a crossover
cable, or connect the client computer and to 8650C to the same switch in the LAN.
Step 2
Run the PuTTY software on the computer.
