2.1.1 List of Devices
Introduce the preparations made before setting up a management environment for the S5600.
Before configuring the S5600, you need to configure the networking.
l
S5600 configured with FC host ports
The system uses the FC SAN and the ASs access the data in the storage system over the
FC protocol.
l
S5600 configured with FC and iSCSI host ports
The system uses the seamless integration of FC SAN and IP SAN, and the ASs access the
data in the storage system over the FC or iSCSI protocol.
Table 2-1
lists the devices required for the typical networking of the S5600.

AS
The ASs are installed with Windows/Linux/IBM AIX/HP Unix/SUN
Solaris.
NOTE
l
You can choose the AS that is installed with the cluster software or that is
configured with the cluster function.
l
When S5600 controller subrack (FC and iSCSI host ports) is set up in two-
node system cluster environment, Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) cluster
software in Linux is not compatible.
Switch
l
S5600 configured with FC host ports: FC switch
l
S5600 configured with FC and iSCSI host ports: FC switch and
Ethernet switch
Cable
l
Network cable
l
Optical fiber (working with SFP modules)
