Phone calls
Your
SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) Card is a small rectangular
plastic card that stores your phone number and other important
information. Do not bend or scratch your SIM Card. Avoid exposing
your SIM Card to static electricity, water or dirt. If your SIM Card is
lost or damaged while in the U.S., please dial *11 from your Verizon
Wireless device or 1-00-9-00 from any phone to speak with a
Customer Service Representative. From outside of the U.S., please
refer to the Verizon Wireless Global Support Guide, welcome letter
and calling card that came with your device. This will enable you to
make calls toll free from landlines in most countries where we offer
Global Phone service.
Calling from outside of the U.S.
Your HTC Merge is Global Ready with a pre-installed Verizon Wireless
SIM Card. This means that you can stay connected even when you are
in a country that has GSM coverage. For a recent list of countries, their
type of coverage (CDMA or GSM), and rates please visit
www.verizonwireless.com/global

To activate your SIM Card please dial
*611
prior to your travel abroad.
Changing the network your phone connects to
Your phone is set to Global mode and automatically searches for
the appropriate network in your location (CDMA or GSM) and then
connects to it.
When roaming in countries where both CDMA and GSM networks are
present, you can make your phone to connect to a CDMA or a GSM
network only.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap
Settings
.
Tap
Call > Preferred Network
, and then select
CDMA Mode
or
GSM / UMTS Mode
.
