Installation and Configuration

Preparation

Make sure that the work area is free from conditions that could cause electrostatic 
discharge (ESD). See Appendix B, “Electrostatic Discharge,” for additional 
information. You will need a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

SCSI Bus Requirements

The SuperLoader contains a SCSI interface that supports both Single Ended (SE) 
and Low Voltage Differential (LVD) communication. The SuperLoader is not 
compatible with a High Voltage Differential (HVD) SCSI bus.

The following controllers are currently supported on the SuperLoader:

■

64-bit/66 MHz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI adapter

■

64-bit/66 MHz Single Channel Wide Ultra 3 SCSI adapter

■

64-bit Dual Channel Wide Ultra2 SCSI adapter

Your SCSI host adapter card must also support the SCSI bus type you use to 
connect the SuperLoader. If you use a LVD SCSI bus, use a host adapter card that 
supports LVD.

The following cables are shipped with your SuperLoader:

■

68-pin VHDCI connector to 68-pin VHDCI connector 
3 foot (.092 meter) cable

■

68-pin VHDCI connector to 68-pin VHDCI connector 
6 foot (1.83 meter) cable

■

68-pin VHDCI connector to 68-pin HD connector 6 foot (1.83 meter) cable

Note:  

Optimal performance will be attained when the interface is used as an LVD 

SCSI bus.
