3. Fuel
3.1 Not Allowed Fuel
Don‘t burn other fuel than the allowed (
chpt 3.2
). Do not burn liquid fuels, trash or surface treated wood. You harm not only the
appliance, but also the enviroment. Use only suitable firestarters to light the fire. Never use gas, alcohol or thinners, etc.
The warranty period won‘t be recognized if the rule above wasn‘t followed.
3.2 Allowed Fuel
Only wood which hasn‘t been surface treated and with maximum humidity of 18% may be burned in Hoxter fireplace inserts. Don‘t use
non-seasoned wood in any case. This wood has aproximately three times higher humidity and half the calorific value when compared to
seasoned wood. The optimum burning temperature won‘t be achieved with non-seasoned wood which leads to higher soot build-up,
higher amounts of tar and other emission pollutants are being created.
The amount of energy released from 1 kg of wood is roughly the same in different kinds of wood. The difference is in the density of the
wood. Soft wood (spruce, pine, poplar, fir) has lower density and is more suitable for starting the fire. Hard wood (oak, beech, ash) has
higher density, burns with a calm fire, makes steady heat and is more suitable for regular burning.
3.3 Suitable Wood Loads
The load of wood used in a fireplace insert must to be between minimum and maximum value. Respect the wood loads for the specific
installation and type of fireplace insert. The wood loads are described in the attachment
on the end of the brochure
.
Never use wet (non-seasoned) wood. When used it negativelly affects the lifespan of the fireplace
insert. The more humidity there is in the wood, the more dirty the glass gets, including linning and
chimney. When using wet wood also the probability of a chimney fire rises.
Never load the higher than suggested amount of wood. The fireplace insert insert may be damaged
when the maximum load is exceeded. The ceramic glass gets irreversibly damaged when the fireplace
insert is overloaded regurarly.
Season the wood on sunny and well ventilated spaces for at least 18 months.
