Insert a character multiple times
F4 Send “xx” character “nn” times in the output message, leaving the cursor in the current position.
Syntax = F4xxnn
where
xx stands for the insert character’s hex value for its ASCII code, and nn is the numeric value (00-99) for the number of
times it should be sent. Refer to the
ASCII Conversion Chart (Code Page 1252),
beginning on page A-3 for decimal,
hex and character codes.
E9 and F4 Example: Send all but the last characters, followed by 2 tabs
Send all characters except for the last 8 from the bar code above, followed by 2 tabs.
Command string:

E9 is the “Send all but the last characters” command
08 is the number of characters at the end to ignore
F4 is the “Insert a character multiple times” command
09 is the hex value for a horizontal tab
02 is the number of times the tab character is sent
The data is output as:
1234567890AB <tab><tab>
Insert a string
BA Send “ss” string of “nn” length in the output message, leaving the cursor in the current position.
Syntax = BAnnnns...s
where nnnn stands for the length of the string, and s...s stands for the string. The string is made up of hex values for
the characters in the string. Refer to the
ASCII Conversion Chart (Code Page 1252),
beginning on page A-3 for decimal,
hex and character codes.
B9 and BA Example: Look for the string “AB” and insert 2 asterisks (**)
Using the bar code above, send all characters up to but not including “AB.” Insert 2 asterisks at that point, and send
the rest of the data with a carriage return after.

41 is the hex value for A
42 is the hex value for B
BA is the “Insert a string” command
0002 is the length of the string to be added (2 characters)

0D is the hex value for a CR
