IGNITION SYSTEM
18-12
2. Turn the ignition switch to “OFF” and remove
the PGM-FI IGNITION relay.
Turn ignition switch to “ON.”
Measure the voltage between the Black wire ter-
minal (+) of the relay connector and ground (–).
There should be battery voltage.
• If there is no battery voltage, go to step 3.
• If there is battery voltage, go to step 4.
3.
Make sure the
engine stop switch
is turned to “
.”
Turn the ignition switch to “OFF.”
Remove the right side cover (page 2-5).
Remove the fuse box cover.
Check the No. 17 fuse (20 A).
• If the fuse is OK, repair the open circuit in the
Black wire between the fuse box and relay box.
• If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one,
install the PGM-FI ignition relay and turn the igni-
tion switch to “ON.” If the fuse blows again,
check for a short circuit in the related wires.
4. Measure the voltage between the Black/white
wire terminal (+) of the relay connector and
ground (–).
There should be battery voltage.
• If there is no battery voltage, check the Black/
white wire at the engine stop switch
(page 20-35).
• If there is battery voltage, go to step 5.
5. Check for continuity between the Red/white wire
terminal of the relay connector and ground.
There should be continuity with the ignition
switch turned to “ON.”
• If there is continuity, the system is OK; check for
loose contacts or corroded terminals.
• If there is no continuity, check the bank angle
sensor (page 18-13).
