Preventative Maintenance

Acquire a preventative maintenance kit.  Parts from the preventative maintenance kit will
be used throughout this procedure.  Other kits and parts may be required to replace
broken parts.  In these cases, the following steps will suggest the appropriate parts or
kits.

3.6.1 Handpiece Connections

1. Inspect the quick disconnect, MRI and Motor/Cylinder fittings and the pinch valve on

the right user interface panel.

2. Clean as needed with Steris pads
3. Turn the unit on, with no handpiece connected, to verify that no air is leaking through

the quick disconnect fittings.

4. Connect an ATEC handpiece to the quick disconnect fittings and pinch valve. Check

the functional fit with a handpiece to assure that the connection is secure.

5. Run a few biopsy cycles by depressing the footswitch and listen for leaks. Test both

MRI and STX if applicable.

6. If the quick disconnect fittings leak or if there is a problem with the pinch valve,

request new parts and install, and follow the necessary steps in procedure SR6607.
