If these procedures do not correct the problem, do not attempt repairs. If
the smoke alarm is within the warranty period and the terms indicate the
nature of the problem, return the unit to your dealer. Smoke detectors beyond
the warranty period cannot be economically repaired.
Abnormal air conditions may cause the highly sensitive smoke alarm to
give a false alarm. If no fire is apparent ventilate the room and/or blow fresh
air into the motorhome until the alarm stops. Once cleared, the smoke alarm
will automatically reset. Dust can lead to excessive sensitivity. Vacuum as need-
ed.
Provided for safety is a gas detector. This
gas detector will detect both LP Gas and
Methane Gas. Liquefied Petroleum (LP)
Gas is heavier than air, Methane Gas is
lighter than air. LP Gas will settle to the
lowest point, generally the floor of the
motorhome. Methane Gas will rise. The gas
detector is also sensitive to other fumes
such as hair spray, of which most contain
butane as the propellant. Butane, like
propane is heavier than air and will settle to
the floor level where it will be detected.
When this occurs, press reset button to stop
the alert sound for 60 seconds.
The other combustibles which will be
detected include alcohol, liquor, deodorants, colognes, perfumes, wine, adhe-
sives, lacquer, kerosene, gasoline, glues, most cleaning agents and propellant
of aerosol cans. Most are lighter than air in their vapor state and will only be
detected when the motorhome is closed up.
Upon first application of power the LED will flash yellow for 3 minutes
while the detector is stabilizing. At the end of the start cycle the LED will turn
Green, indicating full operation. If the detector senses unsafe levels of gas it
will immediately sound an alarm.
The gas detector operates on 12 Volt DC, with a current draw less than
1/10th of one amp.
CAUTION: This detector will not alarm during the 3
minute warm up cycle.
