1.1 What is motionCAT?
motionCAT is a motion network system that uses Motionnet
®
(*1).
It is capable of connecting any kinds of motor drivers supplied by various manufacturers.
A motionCAT communication system consists of a master and slaves that connect to the master.
The communication master connects to a number of slaves using LAN cables, and controls
communications by the multi-dropped method.
*1. Motionnet is a registered trademark of Nippon Pulse Motor Co.,Ltd. motionCAT uses the G9000 series manufactured
by Nippon Pulse Motor, and controls the motors and I/Os by high-speed communications via LAN cable.
1.2 Advantages of motionCAT Series Products
⚫
Motion network system
→
Reduced cost wiring, Generic LAN cables are used.
⚫
Slaves can be decentrally-allocated.
⚫
A slave consists of 1 to 6 modules, and also a combination of modules in different types is enabled.
→
A
quick response in expansion of device and additional specifications is achieved.
⚫
Up to 32 modules can be connected to one line.
⚫
32 axes (32 modules × 1 line), or 64 axes (32 modules × 2 lines) can be connected for motor control.
⚫
2048 I/Os (32 I/Os × 32 modules × 2 lines) can be controlled.
⚫
The maximum total length of LAN cables per one line is 50 meters.
⚫
A motor control slave is connected to a driver that uses the pulse-train input method. Servo motors,
stepping motors etc. offered by any manufactures can be used.
⚫
Short transmission time, quick response
→
20Mbps
⚫
Easy I/O control through the I/O port memory on the master board automatically updated every
transmission cycle.
