S
You can also operate the force transducer without pre-stressing. Please screw the
connecting part into the U10M as far as the retainer and again unscrew the compo
nent two revolutions. Note that the linearity deviation is increased if the connecting
part screwed into the sensor is not pre-stressed. If in doubt, we recommend ordering
the U10M with the "with force application" option. The U10M will then achieve mini
mum linearity deviation.
S
The mounting on the adapter side (bottom of the U10M) has no effect on measure
ment accuracy.
S
The thread of the U10 or the connected construction elements on the customer side
can be damaged if alternating forces (switching between tensile and compressive
forces) are applied to the force transducer without pre-stressing. If used without pre-
stressing, we therefore recommend only applying pure tensile or pure compressive
loading. Pulsating or static forces will not cause any damage.

Mounting with PLS ramp disks
HBM offers you ramp disks as a mounting aids which make it possible to reliably achieve
suitable pre-stressing. This means connecting parts can be screwed together so that the
connection is suitable for measuring dynamic alternating loads safely and permanently.
These disks have a pitch. If two of these disks are placed on top of each other and
rotated, the height of the two components increases.
Using the ramp disks in combination with the "Mounted load application" option
u
Place the two ramp disks on the lock nut of the load application bolt so that the height
is minimal.
u
Then screw the counterpart onto the sensor. When doing so, your connecting part
must lie straight and fully on the ramp disks.
u
Then apply a tensile force corresponding to 120% of the maximum force you need to
measure. The operating force range must not be exceeded when you do so.
u
Then rotate the two ramp disks so that they increase in height. You will find holes in
the disks into which you can insert a tool to do this. Turn as far as possible and relieve
the stress on the sensor.
Using the ramp disks for sensors without mounted load application
u
Place the ramp disks on the sensor and screw in the counterpart with the lock nut in
place.
u
Screw the connecting component into the transducer as far as it will go.
u
Rotate the connecting part back again two turns.
u
Then screw in the lock nut as far as possible so that it is contacting on the ramp disks.
The ramp disks must be positioned between the U10M force transducer and the lock
nut.
