Risks when handling the
appliance
WARNING
Fire hazard!
Improper handling of the appliance
can lead to fi re.
■
Unattended cooking on a hob with
fat or oil can be dangerous and may
result in fi re. NEVER try to extinguish
a fi re with water, but switch off the
appliance and the cover fl ame e. g.
with a lid or a fi re blanket.
■
If you are preparing dishes with alco-
hol, do not leave the hob unattended!
Food may ignite own its own.
■
If a fi re starts, immediately switch
off the hob and switch off the auto-
matic circuit breakers and/or unscrew
the fuses. To extinguish the fi re, use a
suitable fi re extinguisher labelled “F”
or a fi re blanket.
■
Once the fi re has been extinguished,
have the appliance checked by our
service center (see “Service” on
page EN-29).
■
Danger of fi re: do not store items on
the cooking surfaces.
■
Use only hob guards designed by the
manufacturer of the cooking appli-
ance or indicated by the manufactur-
er of the appliance in the instructions
for use as suitable or hob guards in-
corporated in the appliance. The use
of inappropriate guards can cause
accidents.
■
Do not cover the appliance with blan-
kets, cloths or similar, as these objects
may become hot and catch fi re.
■
If the cooling fan is defective, the ap-
pliance can quickly overheat, This can
damage the hob further and fl amma-
ble objects adjacent to the appliance
may catch fi re. In such a case, switch
off the hob immediately!
CAUTION
Fire hazard!
During use the appliance becomes hot.
The cooking zones/areas get very hot
during operation.
■
The cooking process has to be super-
vised. A short term cooking process
has to be supervised continuously.
Risk of burns!
The appliance and its accessible parts
become hot during use. The cooking
zones/areas get very hot during opera-
tion and will remain hot even after they
are switched off; this is signalled by the
residual heat indicator.
■
Caution in the event of a power cut:
residual heat may not be indicated.
■
Care should be taken to avoid touch-
ing heating elements. Always protect
hands with oven gloves or pot holders
when working on the hot appliance.
Only use dry oven gloves or pothold-
ers. Wet textiles are better heat con-
ductors and can cause steam burns.
■
After use, switch off the hob element
by its control and do not rely on the
pan detector.
■
Always switch off the cooking zone/
area yourself if you wish to stop a
cooking process. Cancelling the cook-
ing time limit does not end the cook-
ing process itself.
■
Do not leave the hob unattended
during use.
