DRAWBAR Edit Menu
This Menu Page allows you to modify the characteristics of the Drawbars.
u
LOWER & UPPER MANUALS
❶
ORGAN TYPES
This allows you to select the organ type.
A-100:
A-102 No. 35564
B-3:
B-3 No. A27563
C-3:
C-3 No. C155596
Mellow:
Pure sine waves with no harmonic development
❷
ENVELOPE
This allows you to set the rate of Attack (when the key is touched) and Release (when the
key is released).
The setting range is Con (contact), R1 -- R15, AR1 -- AR15.
“Con” is the envelope of the key-click(s) generated with the Virtual Multi-Contacts.
“1 -- 15” is the rate of Attack without the Virtual Multi-Contacts. The greater the value,
the slower the Attack (the speed at the which the Drawbar registration sounds when a key
ids depressed).
The “R” parameter changes the Release rate. The Attack rate is that provided by the Vir-
tual Multi-Contacts. This means that the onset of the tone will be instantaneous while the
Release rate is regulated by the numerical setting.
The “AR” parameter disables the Virtual Multi-Contacts and allows you to change both the
Attack and Release rate. At higher numerical settings the Attack and Release will be slow,
similar to that of a pipe organ.
❸
CONTACT TIME OFFSET
This allows you to control the time of the Virtual Multi-Contacts to make full contact.
The setting range is -63 -- 0 -- +63. The higher the value, the longer the Attack and the
shorter the Release.
❹
CONTACT DAMPING
This allows you to control the damping rate of the Virtual Multi-Contacts.
The setting range is 0 -- 31. The higher the value, the more pronounced the Key Click.
❺
FOLD BACK - LOW
This allows you to set the key-point from which the 16´ Drawbar folds back (repeats the
same pitches on the lower octave of the keyboard).
The bottom key on the keyboard is displayed as “1C.” The setting range is “1C” to “2C.”
❻
FOLD BACK - HIGH
This allows you to set the key-point at which the Drawbar pitches fold back (repeat the same
notes on higher octaves). The setting range is 4G to 5C.
NOTE: The Fold-back effect will be heard starting with the 22/3´ Drawbar (first black Draw-
bar) and all the other Drawbars which introduces high harmonics.
❼
LEAK LEVEL OFFSET
This allows you to set the total volume of the leakage tone.
The setting range is 0 (silent) to 127 (maximum).
“KEY CLICK” or “KEY POP”
On tone-wheel organs such as the B-3/C-3,
each time a key was depressed a key-pop or
click was produced. This Advanced Feature al-
lows you to change the personality of the Key
Click.
EXAMPLES OF KEY-CLICK SET-
TINGS
Simulation of classic multi-contact keyboard
B-3/C-3: ENV=CON
Simulation of a PCM synthesizer to produce
the key-click only at ‘attack’: ENV=R1
Slow envelope like a pipe-organ: ENV=AR15
DRAWBAR FOLDBACK
On a B-3, the lowest note produced by the
Sub-Fundamental Drawbar is the 2nd “C”
(“2C”) from the left end of the manual, while
the highest note that can be played by the 8th
harmonic Drawbar is the 4th “F<” from the left
end of the manual. The lower and higher keys
on the manual “Fold Back,” in that they repeat
the pitches played by other notes.
On the earliest model Hammond Organs, the
Sub-Fundamental Drawbar (the one marked,
“16’”) would continue to play all the way down
to the lowest “C” (“1C”). Newer models such
as the X-66, X-77 and Concorde do the same,
however, the 8th harmonic Drawbar (the one
marked “1’”) continues to play up the manual
to the next to highest “C” (“5C”) on the manual.
