XK-5
Owner’s Playing Guide
28
Follow the procedures below for powering on your XK-5.
NOTE: In order to avoid possible damage, be sure you have connected a sound source -
either a keyboard amplifier or a Leslie Speaker cabinet - before powering the XK-5 “ON.”
1. Before turning the power “ON,” make sure you have connected all peripherals
(Expression Pedal, Foot Switch(es), etc.) properly and set the [MASTER VOLUME]
Rotary Knob to its minimum setting.
2. Turn the power to the instrument “ON.” The display will show the opening screen
for approximately 2 seconds, then the PLAY Mode screen will display.
NOTE: In order to protect the circuits, the instrument will be ready to play about 6
seconds after the power is turned “ON.”
3. After you have turned the XK-5 power “ON,” turn the power to the connected ampli-
fier “ON.”
NOTE: If you have a Leslie Speaker connected to the instrument, the Leslie will turn
“ON” automatically.
4. Touch any Preset Key from “C
<
” through “A.” These are the Preset Keys with pre-
registered Drawbar settings.
5. Holding down a key, adjust the [MASTER VOLUME] Rotary Knob.
NOTE: The “C,” “A#” and “B” Preset Keys normally do not produce sound when the
keyboard is first turned “ON” and no Drawbars are out. Pull Drawbars out when
using the “A#” or “B” Preset Keys, or press any of the other Preset Keys from “C
<
”
through “A” to hear a sound when keys are pressed. (The “C” key is normally used
as a Cancel key.)
6. Adjust the volume of the amplifiers etc.
NOTE: Reverse the above steps when you turn the power “OFF.” Also, be sure to
turn the power to a connected amplifier “OFF” before turning the organ “OFF.”
POWER ON
BACK UP
The organ will “remember” the status of all of the playing controls
at the time the power is turned “OFF.” When the instrument is
next turned “ON,” all of the controls and features will return to
that state.
RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS
To reset all parameters of the organ to their default settings, do the
following:
1. Turn the organ power “OFF.”
2. Press and Hold the [RECORD] Touch Button.
3. While holding the [RECORD] Touch Button, turn the
organ power “ON.” The display will first show the open-
ning screen, then it will show the following message for
about 1 second:
Loading Default...
4. When the above message disappears, the PLAY Mode will
display. The factory settings have been restored.
AUTO POWER OFF
The XK-5 has an “AUTO POWER OFF” feature which will auto-
matically turn the power on the instrument “OFF” if no keys or
buttons are pressed for 30 minutes.
To cancel/set the AUTO POWER OFF function, see “SYSTEM”
P. 122.
NOTE: Depending on the status of this unit - while editing, for
example - the power may not turn “OFF,” even if the set time of
AUTO POWER OFF elapses. Therefore, it is best to turn the power
to the instrument “OFF” manually after every use.
