Dealing with password loss
This section describes how to deal with password loss.
User password loss
If you forget your user password, BootWare password, or super password, you can set a new user
password by following these steps:
Step1
Enter the BootWare main menu and select
6
to bypass the current configuration in system startup.
The following information appears:
Flag Set Success.
Step2
When the BootWare main menu appears again, select
0
to restart the system.
On an EWPX1WCMB0, the following output appears:
System starts booting ...
On an EWPX1WCMD0, the following output appears:
System is starting...
Step3
Set a new user password in system view.
[H3C]user-interface con 0
[H3C-ui-console0]authentication-mode password
[H3C-ui-console0]set authentication password simple 123456
The output shows that password authentication is used for console port login, the password is set to
123456
, and it is stored in plain text.
IMPORTANT:
•
After reboot, the system runs with the initial default configuration, while the original configuration file is
still kept in the CF card. To restore the original configuration, use the
display saved-configuration
command to locate the configuration file, and then copy and run it.
•
If the password is stored in plain text, you can use the
display current-configuration
command to view
the password in the current configuration. If you use the
set authentication password cipher 123456
command to set your password, the password will be stored in cipher text.
Step4
Save your new password.
[H3C] save
NOTE:
After modifying the user password, use the
save
command to save it.
