Replacing a transceiver module
WARNING!
•
When replacing a transceiver module while the switch is running, be aware of electrical safety
hazards.
•
Do not stare at the fibers to avoid hurting your eyes.
•
Do not touch the golden plating on the module.
•
Make sure the optical transceiver modules at the two ends of an optical fiber are the same model.
Replacing an SFP+/SFP/QSFP+ module
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap, and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
For more information, see "
."
2.
Remove the optical fibers from the module.
3.
Pivot the clasp outward.
For a QSFP+ module that uses a plastic pull latch, skip this step. QSFP+ modules use either a metal
or plastic pull latch.
4.
Grasp the clasp on the module and carefully pull the module out of the port.
5.
Insert the dust plugs into the removed module, and put the remove module into its original shipping
materials.
6.
Install a new SFP+/SFP/QSFP+ module in the port. For the installation procedure, see "
."
If you are not to install an SFP+/SFP/QSFP+ module in the port, insert the dust plug that is provided
with the LPU into the port.
Replacing a CFP module
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
For more information, see "
."
2.
Remove the optical fibers from the module.
3.
Loosen the captive screws on the module.
4.
Carefully pull the module out of the port.
5.
Insert the dust plugs into the removed module, and put the removed module into its original
shipping materials.
6.
Install a new CFP module in the port. For the installation procedure, see "
."
If you are not to install a CFP module in the port, insert the dust plug that is provided with the LPU
into the port.
Replacing a CFP2 module
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
For more information, see "
