CXP modules are available in two types. One type is with a rubber pull latch and the other is with a
plastic pull latch. These two types also differ in sizes.
The installation and removal procedures are the same for the CXP modules with a rubber pull latch and
CXP modules with a plastic pull latch. This guide uses the CXP module with a plastic pull latch as an
example.
To install a CXP module:
1. Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded. For
more information, see "
Attaching an ESD wrist strap ."
2. Unpack the CXP module. Do not touch the golden plating of the module.
3. Correctly orient the CXP module. Gently push the module into the port until it has firm contact with
the port.

If the card where the CXP module is to be installed is horizontally oriented, make sure the pull
latch is on top of the CXP module.

If the card where the CXP module is to be installed is vertically oriented, make sure the pull latch
is on the left of the CXP module.
4. Connect the fiber to the module. For the installation procedure, see " Connecting your switch to the
network ."
