5. Immediate Recording
Preparation
Switch the TV set on.
Select the AV programme position for the recorder on the TV
set. This serves as a monitor for checking.
Open the front cover of the recorder.
Insert a cassette with sufficient playing time which is not pro-
tected against recording.
The recorder automatically recognizes VHS and S-VHS cas-
settes.
If you want to record the VHS format on an S-VHS cassette,
press the
“
S-VHS
button (

goes out in the display).
Comments on the archive system

--- « appears in the recorder´s display after a
cassette is inserted amd measured, you must enter the cas-
sette number.
If a cassette is already inseted, you can call up its number by
pressing the
=
button. When you start the cassette, the
recorder automatically stores in the archive the starting and
stopping point of the tape, the date, » DIVERSE « as the cate-
gory, the station identification abbreviation, and the starting
time, all as title of the cassette.
When the cassette is finished, you can change the title and
category of the cassette as required (see the section “Infor-
mation on Cassette Contents....” in the second part of the
operating instructions, page 39).
Selecting a Programme Position – Directly
TV stations/cable TV stations
Select the desired TV station on the programme positions 1
to 9 with the numeric buttons

for TV stations on the programme positions 10 to 60, first
enter the tens position, and then, within 3 seconds, the units
positon.
You will see the TV station you selected on the TV screen.
Programme positions which are not occupied by a TV sta-
tion cannot be selected.
TV programmes from a satellite receiver
Press the

button and then select the desired TV station
on the programme positions 1 to 9 with the numeric buttons

button, and then for TV stations on the pro-
gramme positions 10 to 99, first enter the tens position, and
then, within 3 seconds, the units position.
Selecting Long-Play Recording Mode
Press the
w
button to double the cassette playing time.

Starting Recording
Simultaneously press the

RECORD

Recording is started; this is indicated in the recorder´s dis-
play by, for example:

You will see the TV station you selected on the TV screen.

5. Immediate Recording
Entering a Stop Time
There are two methods of entering the stop time:
Entering the stop time to the exact minute;
Entering the stop time in 30-minute steps.
Entering the stop time to the exact minute
Enter the stop time as a four-digit number with the numeric
buttons

and confirm by pressing the

button.
In the display will see the remaining playing time, then the
elapsed laying time, the programme position and the station
identification abbreviation.
Entering the stop time in 30-minute steps
Enter the desired stop time by repeaedly pressing the
M
RECORD
;
buttons on the remote control or the
M ;
buttons on the recorder (max. 20 times = 600
minutes).
Changing the stop time
If you wish to change the stop time while recording, press
both of the
M
RECORD
;
buttons on remote control or the
M ;
buttons on the recorder, enter the desired stop time
with the numeric buttons

Interrupting the Recording (Pause)
Press the
K
button during playback.
» II « also appears in the display of the recorder.
Press the
K
button to continue recording.
» II « disappears from the display.
The recording-pause function is limited to a certain time.
After this time, the recorder switches to stop.
If a stop time is not entered, after a short time the display
switches to the display of hours/minutes and the recorder
continues to record until it reaches the end of the tape.
When it reaches the end, the recorder automatically
rewinds the tape to the beginning and then switches to
stop.
Terminating Recording Immediately
Press the
`
button to conclude recording.
Recording a Title Line
You can record a title line. Creating a title line is described in
the second part of the operating instructions on pages 53 and
54.
Press the
*
button before or during recording to add the
title line to the recording.
To suppress the title line, press the
*
button again.
Assembling Recordings with Clean Transitions
(Perfect Assembly Editing)
During playback, locate the tape position where you wish to
join the new recording, then press the
K
button.
Switch the recorder to recording-pause by pressing the two
M
RECORD
;
buttons on the remote control, or press the
M;
buttons on the recorder, and enter the desired pro-
gramme as one or two digits with the numeric buttons

Start the new recording by pressing the
K
button.
When you play the assembled recordings back, you will see
smooth transitions no flaws. This is called Perfect Assemble
Insert.
