Clean the threads of the elevation and tilt lead-
screws (see
Figure 146) with a stiff brush and
mineral spirits. When dry, apply a thin coat of
lubricant into the threads with a brush, and tilt the
blade back and forth and raise and lower it a few
times to distribute the grease.

Steel ways (see
Figure 147) on both sides of the
sliding table fit between the top and the base and
allow these parts to slide past each other. Clean
the ways with mineral spirits and shop rags, then
apply a thin coat of light machine oil with a shop
rag. Move the sliding table through its full range
of movement several times to evenly distribute
the oil.
