8.6 EXHAUST SYSTEM
The purpose of an exhaust system is to convey smoke and odours to the outlet, which is in such a place and height that they
cannot become bothersome or risky, offering the minimum possible resistance to gas flow.
A silencer may be incorporated to reduce the machine noise level, which consists of baffles, pipes or expansion openings
and is connected to the pipes of the exhaust outlet. This may be installed inside or outside the building.
The accessible parts of the exhaust system, up to a height of 2 metres, must be protected against accidental contact. Any
contact could cause burns.
THE ENGINE EXHAUST FOR ALL GENERATING SETS INSTALLED INDOORS, MUST BE CONVEYED
OUTDOORS THROUGH AN APERTURE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAWS IN FORCE IN THE COUNTRY OF
INSTALLATION.
THE VISIBLE PARTS OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM MUST BE PROTECTED AGAINST ACCIDENTAL
CONTACT

8.7 CONNECTION
PRIOR TO CARRYING OUT ANY CONNECTIONS, DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE
STARTER BATTERY AND PRESS THE EMERGENCY STOP PUSH BUTTON.
MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS
1.
Position the generating set and fix it firmly to the foundation.
A CORRECT POSITION IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH INDICATIONS GIVEN IN PARAGRAPHS 7.1, 7.20
7.30 7.4 OF THE MANUAL
2. Position the electric control board if it is separate, and fix it securely.
THE ELECTRIC CONTROL BOARD MUST BE POSITIONED IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE
GENERATING SET.
3. If suction and extraction pipes for the engine cooling air are included, mount them on the housing of the generating set.
it is always obligatory to convey the air used for cooling the engine outside the room in which the generating set is
installed.
4. Install the mufflers, carefully aligning and mating the flanges at the engine smoke exhaust outlet with the flanges
mounted in the actual silencers. To do this, use the screws and bolts provided. Seals must be inserted between the
various flanges. These operations must be carried out by qualified personnel under the direct responsibility of a
competent technician.
IT IS OBLIGATORY TO CONVEY SMOKE AND FUMES OUTSIDE THE ROOM
CHECK THE SEAL BETWEEN THE FLANGES.
