Engine Air Cleaner / Filter
Element
The engine air cleaner/filter element is
located in the engine compartment on the
front driver side of the vehicle.
When to Check Engine Air Cleaner/
Filter Element
For the inspection interval of the engine air
cleaner/filter element, refer to "Warranty
and Maintenance Manual".
To check the air cleaner/filter element,
remove the filter element from the vehicle
and shake it slightly to shake off the dust
and dirt. Replace the filter element with a
new one if caked dirt remains on it. Clean
the air cleaner according to the scheduled
maintenance, and replace the air filter ele-
ment every year or according to the driving
mileage. Frequently check the sealing of
the intake and exhaust system during nor-
mal operation. Check or replace the engine
air cleaner/filter element according to the
following steps:

1.
Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, screw
off the four set screws shown in the illus-
tration.
2.
Lift up the cover case of the filter ele-
ment to remove it from the engine.
3.
Pull out the filter element.
4.
Check or replace the engine air cleaner/
filter element.
5.
Put the air cleaner/filter element in and
install the cover case of the filter ele-
ment.
6.
Screw in and tighten the four set
screws.
