Introduction
In the
CALIB
menu, you can calibrate and trim the analog outputs and
inputs and check other meter functions. This chapter also covers
updating UTX878 software over the RS232 interface.
Before performing calibration of the UTX878, be sure the following
equipment is available:
•
0-30 VDC, 100 mA variable power supply
•
Current meter capable of precisely measuring 4 to 20 mA current
levels
•
PC with RS232 Cable and
Hyperterminal
software (available on
Windows operating systems)
While following the programming instructions, refer to Figure A-3 on
page A-3 of Appendix A,

Updating UTX878
Instrument Software
1.
To set up the RS232, connect one end of a 9-pin RS232 cable to
the COM-1 serial port on a PC and the other end to terminal block
TB4 on the UTX878, as described in Chapter 1,

2.
On your PC, set up the
Hyperterminal
program.
Note:
The use of
Hyperterminal
is shown here as an example. If you
are using a different communications software, see its manual
for detailed instructions.
a.
From the PC Start Menu, click
Programs/Accessories/
Communications/Hyperterminal
to open the Hyperterminal
window.
b.
If the call is not connected, click on
New Connection
and enter
a name. Click OK.
c.
In the
Connect To
window, select COM 1 as the desired port.
d.
In the
Properties
window, set the following parameters:
•
Bits per second: 19200
•
Data bits: 8
•
Parity: None.
•
Stop Bits: 1
•
Flow control: None
