Figure 3-14 shows a modified network structure using a null modem. This structure is another

alternative to the network structure in Figure 3-11.

In this network structure using a null modem, the sections using the RS 485 are isolated so the bias

resistor can remain turned on for all the DCS units. However, a null modem cable (not included) is

needed to swap the transmit and receive when running from the RS 232 of a DCS to the RS 232 of

another DCS.

3.4.4

External Contact/Status Port Wiring (Optional)

The external status port on the MA-251A and MA-252A allows you to connect external contact closure

devices and map status/alarm indicators. Table 3-10 lists the pin assignments. Section 3.9.1 –
