10. Wash the cooking pot, steaming tray, trivet, sealing nut, pressure release valve,
cover of the steam vent, drip cup, lid seal, and lid in warm dishwater with a soft
sponge. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
However, to extend the life of these parts, we do NOT recommend cleaning in
an automatic dishwasher.
11. While cleaning the lid, please observe the following items:
a. Carefully remove any oil or food residue left at the valves. The area at the
valves must be clean and free from residues.
b. The safety locking pin must be completely clean and move up and down
easily.
c. Wipe the pressure release valve, steam vent, and cover of the steam vent
with a soapy cloth. Ensure that they are free of food and liquid.
d. Push the pressure safety valve from the inner side of the lid to open the valve.
The Valve must be clean and free of food or liquid. Remove any oil or food
residue. Ensure that the valve moves in and out smoothly after cleaning.
e. The groove of the lid seal at the brim of the lid must be smooth and clean.
Backed-on residues of food would prevent the build-up of pressure. Wipe
the groove with a soft sponge and warm dishwater.
f. Rinse all parts, especially the valves
and the groove of the lid seal, and
dry thoroughly.
12. After cleaning, leave all parts dry natu-
rally for approx. ½ hour where they are
out of reach of young children.
The-
reafter reassemble the appliance (see below: ‘Reassembling the Appliance’).
Removing Stubborn Residues and Odours
If there are any residues of food sticking to the surfaces of the cooking pot, steaming
tray or trivet, it is best to soak these parts in warm dishwater for approx. 10 minutes.
Thereafter, clean these parts according to the instructions above.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT use any metal scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, or scra-
pers to avoid damage to the surfaces.
The steaming tray and trivet may be cleaned, using a soft plastic cleaning pad.
To remove food odours, pressure cook 1 tablespoon vanilla, ½ cup lemon juice,
1 tablespoon lemon rind and ½ litre hot water for 5 minutes. Thereafter clean the
appliance according to the instructions above.
