STEP 3: PURGING THE WATER SYSTEM
The steam wand and group head need to be purged with fresh water for removing
the descaling solution.
9. Remove and empty the water tank. Rinse the water tank thoroughly with cold,
clear water. Then, fill the water tank with clear water at least up to the “1.0L”
marking and replace the water tank at the rear of the espresso machine.
10. Empty and replace the containers below the group head and steam wand.
11. Turn the control dial to the right (steam icon). The steam icon illuminates and the
water is pumped again through the steam wand and group head. After approx.
2 minutes, the pumping noise changes again. Wait until the water system stops
releasing hot water from the brewing head and steam wand. The steam icon
gets dark and the standby position indicator starts flashing again.
12. Turn the control dial to the vertical standby position. All icons of the hot water/
steam functions illuminate continuously and a beep sounds.
The appliance is in standby mode now and ready for normal operation.
STORING
WARNING
–
Always ensure that the appliance and any part or acces-
sory of it are out of reach of children younger than 8 years and animals.
Always switch off (press the ON/OFF button; the display gets dark) and unplug
the appliance, when it is unattended and/or not in use.
CAUTION
– Only grasp the appliance at both sides at the bottom of the
housing for moving it. Store the appliance in an upright position, where it is pro-
tected against inadmissible strain (e.g. electric or mechanical shock, moisture,
dust, heat, frost, direct sunlight). Do not place any heavy and/or hard objects in
or on the appliance or any part of it.
1. Switch off (display gets dark) and unplug the appliance. Clean the appliance
and all parts and accessories (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’). Descale the appli-
ance (see: ‘Descaling the Water System’). Thoroughly dry all parts—even the
interior of the water tank and drip tray.
2. We recommend to install a filter basket and the portafilter at the group head. Place
the other filter basket and the cleaning tools into the storage tray. This way, the parts
are protected against dust and loss. Point the steam wand to the drip tray.
