STEP 1: PREPARATIONS
When the descaling reminder is activated and before starting the descaling pro-
gram, please complete the following preparations.
1. Remove the water tank from the appliance. Empty and rinse the water tank.
Pour a mixture of 1000 ml Water and 50 ml Gastroback Premium Descaler into
the water tank. The water tank must be filled at least up to the “1.0L” marking.
Reassemble the water tank.
2. Empty the drip tray and replace it in the correct position. Ensure that the control
dial is in the central standby position.
3. Insert the filter basket for 2 cups into the portafilter and, WITHOUT coffee pow-
der, install the portafilter at the group head.
4. Place two heat-resistant containers (e.g. cooking pots, capacity at least 1 litre
each) under the group head and under the steam wand.
5. Press the ON/OFF button to switch on the espresso machine. Wait until the
ON/OFF icon is illuminated continuously. When the descaling functions does
not start automatically, hold the ON/OFF button and GRIND button pressed
simultaneously, until the descaling function is entered.
6. Proceed with step 2.
STEP 2: SUCKING IN THE DESCALER SOLUTION
7. Turn the control dial to the steam position. The steam icon illuminates and the
pump starts pumping hot water through the brewing head and steam wand.
After approx. 2 minutes, the pumping noise changes. This is normal.
NOTE
This step is complete when the water system stops releasing hot water from the
brewing head and steam wand, the steam icon gets dark, and the standby posi-
tion indicator (dot over the control dial) starts flashing.
8. While the standby position indicator is flashing, turn the control dial to the cen-
tral position. The steam and water icons illuminate. The espresso machine is
ready now for the next step.
IMPORTANT - Ensure that the following preparations until starting the pump
again are done within 5 minutes.
