• Usage: The intended usage of Garrett SmartScan is
as a telethermographic system for initial temperature
assessment in high throughput areas.
• Basic Description: The Garrett SmartScan (Model
#11780xx) is an infrared telethermographic system.
• Algorithm:
The system uses two types of algorithms
to detect temperatures and determine indications.
The Multi Scan option uses a set value as an absolute
temperature and the Statistical option uses a relative
temperature based on average of temperatures. Smart-
scan uses the Statistical option as default.
• LED and Audio Indicators: The Garrett SmartScan
is an advanced telethermographic system that uses AI
(artificial intelligence) software and Infrared (IR) tech-
nology to automatically detect and lock frame with
a dynamic temperature tag onto a face. Temperature
values are communicated to the operator by means
of LEDs and an audio speaker from an indicator bar.
The indicator bar also provides status for powering on
and off the system as well as battery health.
• Power: SmartScan comes with a 14Ahr battery and
has the ability to run on AC power alone or on battery
backup for up to 8 hours of uninterrupted operation.
• Traffic Flow: LED indicators on the entry and/or exit
of the indicator bar allow smooth and efficient traffic
flow.
• Security: Settings are secured with a user name
and password for accessing the client interface.
Physical security is accomplished with a cabinet
lock which prevents unauthorized access to cameras,
cables, connectors and circuit boards.
• Controls/ Displays: The SmartScan utilizes a graphi-
cal client interface in the event that settings need to
changed, images of people need to be seen or temper-
ature values are required. The client interface is avail-
able to use on an as needed bases and not required for
normal operation.
• Environment:
Operation of SmartScan is intended to
be conducted in a controlled environment. Thermal
interferences such as sunlight, external heat sources,
blowing cold air or surfaces within camera view that
are greater than the average skin surface temperature
should be avoided.
