DESCRIPTION OF VISUAL INDICATIONS
The
SmartScan
Thermal Screening Unit provides status
information to the operator via its nine LED lights (see
Figure 3-1). Note that the LED information displayed on
the exit side is often more detailed than what is seen on
the entry side of the
SmartScan
unit.
• Boot-Up
Push and release the
SmartScan
power button
to power on the unit (see Figure 3-2). The unit
checks LEDs (red, green, and blue) with a quick
cycle on both sides of the unit. The LED 2 on the
exit side will show a single blinking yellow LED
on the light bar. This will blink yellow approxi-
mately 50 seconds and turns to solid yellow.
• Warm-Up Mode
The LED 3 will then blink yellow for approxi-
mately 10 seconds before turning solid. LED 4
will then flash yellow for 10 second and then turn
solid. All nine LEDs will then appear and turn
solid yellow. As the
SmartScan
camera unit warms
up, these yellow LEDs will gradually disappear at
the countdown nears completion. When count-
down is complete, all nine LEDs will be white.
• Errors During Startup
If the LED 2 stays blinking yellow for several min-
utes, this indicates a communication error (i.e.,
loose cable or other misconnection). An error is
indicated by LED 3 or 4 changing from yellow
to red during the warm-up mode. If LED 3 or
4 turns red, this indicates a hardware connection
error (i.e., thermal or digital camera error).
• Temperature Samples
Once the warm-up mode is complete,
Smart-
Scan
shows nine white LEDs and will require 10
temperature samples. Collect samples by walk-
ing 10 people through the walkthrough starting
from a distance of 10 feet in front of the
SmartScan
unit. The white LEDs will decrease as each sample
is taken. Note that there are only nine LEDs for 10
samples, so LED 9 will disappear after two sam-
ples are taken. Alternately, 1 person whose temp
has been verified to be in the acceptable range can
be scanned 10 times.
Once the samples are complete,
Smart-
Scan
’s LEDs will turn blue with a single rolling
LED across the light bar on the entry side and
(5) solid colored LEDs on the exit side. The unit
is now ready for operation. Alternate lights may
be displayed if in "Lightbar Mode: Simple" as
described later in Section 4, DEFAULT
SETTINGS / INFORMATION DISPLAYS.
• Operation
During operation, high temperature and error
indications will only display on the LEDs on the
exit side of the
SmartScan
unit.
LED color indicators on exit side during opera-
tion are defined below:
• Blue LEDs: solid blue indicates that the
system is ready and scanning for faces. LEDs
on the entry side should be solid with a single
scrolling LED across the light bar.
• Green LEDs: solid green indicates face
detection and that normal temperature has
been taken (seen on both sides of unit)
• Yellow LEDs: indicates a low temperature or
non-read of temperature (seen only on
exit side of LED display)
• Red LEDs: indicates high temperature (seen
only on exit side of LED display)
See "OPERATION" section later in this manual
for more functional descriptions of LEDs during
operation and for alternate LED colors available.
• Battery Status / Battery Percentage
LED 1 is used for battery status during operation.
A single yellow LED indicates the
SmartScan
unit
has approximately 30% battery life remaining. A
single blinking red LED indicates the unit has less
than 10% battery life. While charging the battery,
LED 1 on the exit side will show green, yellow or
red accordingly indicating the battery status.
