• Statistical
The
SmartScan
unit uses the reported tempera-
ture readings from all patrons within a session to
come up with an average temperature. The statis-
tical algorithm then sets the temperature limits
based on a fixed offset from this average tempera-
ture. This offset is available to adjust for the end
user as Offset Above Mean in the settings area of
the client interface only when Statistical is selected
as the algorithm. The high and low limit fields
are hidden when algorithm is not Multi-Scan,
however, the default value for low temperature is
96.5°F and the starting value for high temperature
is 97.6°F, plus the offset value, which by default is
99.1°F (97.6°F plus 1.5 offset).
For example, the average for a morning ses-
sion is calculated to be 97.2°F. If the offset above
mean is set to 1.5, anything above 98.7°F will
be flagged as a high temp. On this same unit,
the afternoon session average patron tempera-
ture might rise up to 97.9°F. This will automati-
cally change the normal range of temperature.
For the afternoon session, temperature readings
above 99.4°F will be flagged as high temp. Any
