5.5 Reversing Assist System
5.5.1
Reversing Radar System*
The system transmits and receives ultrasonic
waves via the radar sensor and calculates the
distance between the vehicle and the obstacle
based on the ultrasonic waves sent and reflected
upon coming across an obstacle. If the vehicle is
approaching an obstacle, the system will give out
intermittent audible alarms to the driver. The
shorter the distance between the vehicle and the
obstacle is, the shorter the alarm sound will be; if
the distance is very short, the system will give out
continuous alarm sound. If, under this case, the
vehicle continues approaching the obstacle, the
system will be unable to detect the obstacle any
more. Except alarm sound, the audio system
display will also show the dynamic icons of radar
detection.
On and Off
When the reversing radar system is activated
during reversing, press the button to deactivate
the system and press it again to activate the
system. The reversing radar system will be
activated automatically after the vehicle is restarted.
When the speed is lower than 10km/h, the
front radar sensor will start work. When the speed
is higher than 12km/h, the front radar sensor will
start exit. When the speed drops from above
12km/h to below 10km/h, the front sensor resumes
operation.
Both the rear and front radar sensors will work
simultaneously at a reversing speed of lower than
10 km/h and will stop working at a reversing speed
of higher than 12 km/h. By moving the shift lever
out from the “R” gear, applying the EPB and
moving the ignition switch out from the “ON”
position, the reversing radar system will stop
working.
