Adjusting the Gain
The gain may be adjusted
automatically ([Fishing] or
[Cruising]) or manually.
3.4.1
How to set up the auto mode
Major features of the auto mode
The gain, clutter and TVG are automatically adjusted.
The gain is automatically adjusted to display the bottom in reddish brown.
"Clutter" (see section 3.9), which erases faint echoes, automatically works to
suppress faint echoes from murky water and plankton, to show clear pictures.
“TVG” is automatically activated. (see section 3.19)
The gain balance between low frequency and high frequency is automatically
adjusted.
The range automatically changes to always display the bottom.
The Auto mode function has two modes, the [Fishing] mode and the [Cruising] mode.
[Fishing]
This mode clearly displays weak echoes from schools of fish so it is useful for
searching for schools of fish. [AF] is shown at the top of the screen.
⚠
CAUTION
Adjust the “gain” carefully.
If the gain is too low, weak signals may not be
shown. If the gain is too high, noise appears and
may mask echoes. Further, if the bottom echo is
displayed incorrectly or the depth indication is
unstable, grounding can occur if the vessel is being
steered in shallow waters.
