Report method
Failure prediction notification method
0h
Notification of the failure prediction is not performed.
1h
Failure prediction notification is performed by asynchronous event
reporting.
2h
The failure prediction notification is performed by a UNIT
ATTENTION condition. The sense key of the sense data at this time is
UNIT ATTENTION [= 6], and the sense code is SMART predictive
failure [5D/nn].
3h
I “1” is specified in the “PER” bit of the error recovery parameter,
failure prediction is notified by recovered error. All commands
terminate with the “CHECK CONDITION” status (RECOVERED
ERROR [=1]/SMART predictive failure [= 5D/nn]. If the drive is in
the sense hold state or in the UNIT ATTENTION condition hold state,
these errors must be reported before failure prediction notification is
carried out.
4h
Failure prediction notification is performed by recovered error at all
times without being influenced by the value specified in the “PER” bit
of the error recovery parameter “PER”. All commands terminate with
the “CHECK CONDITION” status (RECOVERED ERROR
[=1]/SMART predictive failure [= 5D/nn]. If the drive is in the sense
hold state or in the UNIT ATTENTION condition hold state, these
errors must be reported before failure prediction notification is carried
out.
5h
All commands terminate with the “CHECK CONDITION” status (NO
SENSE [=0]) SMART predictive failure [= 5D/nn]. If the drive is in
the sense hold state or in the UNIT ATTENTION condition hold state,
these errors must be reported before failure prediction notification is
carried out.
6h
Reporting is done by the REQUEST SENSE command. When the
drive is not in the sense hold state or the UNIT ATTENTION condition
hold state, if the REQUEST SENSE command is issued, failure
prediction notification is performed by setting NO SENSE [= 0] in the
sense key and SMART predictive failure [ = 5D/ nn] in the sense code.

Failure Prediction Notification Time Interval (Not supported)
This field specifies the time interval in which the failure prediction notification is made in
100 millisecond units. The drive must perform failure prediction notification more
frequently than the time specified in this field.
