2.12 Cleaning the Drive Manually

Select the drive from which to eject cartridges.

A confirmation window is displayed.
Click the [OK] button if it is OK to proceed.

A message indicating that the process is in progress is displayed. The processing-in-progress
message window displays the number of drives containing cartridges to be ejected and the
number of drives from which ejection is complete.

Ejection from a selected drive is complete if an end message is displayed.

Cleaning the Drive Manually
The LT270 S2 has dedicated cells for holding cleaning cartridges. When cleaning the drives manually, use the
cleaning cartridge stored in a cleaning cell.
More than one drive can be specified.

Cleaning cannot be done if no dedicated cleaning cartridge for the drive to be cleaned is contained in the
cleaning cell. To add a cleaning cartridge to the cleaning cell, refer to
. Also, cleaning cannot be carried out if the expiration dates of all dedicated cleaning
cartridges for the drive to be cleaned have passed or an error has occurred in all cleaning cartridges. Eject
cleaning cartridges that cannot be used and then insert ones that can be used. (For information on the
method of ejecting a cleaning cartridge, refer to
"2.13.2 Ejecting a Cleaning Cartridge" (page 62)

A drive being cleaned is temporary placed offline. When cleaning is complete, the drive is automatically
placed online.

If cleaning is attempted while backup software is accessing the library, a message is displayed stating
that the library is busy. Retry the cleaning when the library is no longer busy.
