IAGNOSTICS
This option, when enabled, provides diagnostics data over a MultiPoint network simultaneously with the
application data. Proper use of diagnostics requires the following:
1.
The Number Repeaters and Diagnostics settings must be set to (1) in the Master’s MultiPoint
Parameters Menu.
2.
A second computer to run the diagnostics software
3.
A diagnostics cable, available through FreeWave Technologies
4.
Diagnostics software, also available through FreeWave Technologies
For more information on Diagnostics, please contact FreeWave Technical Support at (303) 444-3862.

ID
In a MultiPoint Network where the Network ID is used a Slave will connect with the first Repeater or Master
that it hears with the same Network ID. Likewise, a Repeater in the network will connect to the first Master or
Repeater that it hears with the same Network ID. There are scenarios, however, where communications need
to be forced to follow a specific path. Subnet ID is particularly helpful to force two Repeaters in the same
network to operate in series instead of in parallel, or if it is desirable to force Slaves to communicate to
specific Repeaters for load balancing purposes. There are two components to the Subnet ID:
1.
Rcv Subnet ID. This setting identifies which transceiver a Repeater or Slave will listen to.
2.
Xmt Subnet ID. This setting identifies the ID this device transmits with, and in turn which devices
will listen to it.
The Xmt Subnet ID parameter is relevant for MultiPoint Repeaters only.
To disable the Subnet ID, both Rcv Subnet ID and Xmt Subnet ID should be set to F.
Notes:
The Master always transmits and receives with Subnet ID settings of 0, regardless of the value entered. To
force communications directly through the Master, the Slave’s or Repeater's Rcv Subnet ID must be set to 0.
The Subnet ID works only in MultiPoint Networks using NetworkID.
In typical MultiPoint Networks, the Freq Key must be at the same setting for all transceivers. If the Subnet ID
is used, the sub-network may be set to a different Freq Key.
If both Rcv Subnet ID and Xmt Subnet ID are set to 0 the Subnet ID will show
Roaming
in the menu. This
setting will allow a mobile Slave to roam from subnet to subnet within a network.
The drawing below depicts a MultiPoint Network in which the Subnet ID is used to force communications
along specific paths. In this example, Repeater1
must
talk directly to the Master, and Repeater2
must
talk
directly to Repeater1. Communications for Slaves 1, 2, and 3 are forced along the direction of the solid
lines. Slave4 may link to the first Master or Repeater it hears.
The respective Subnet ID diagram and settings are shown below.
