Spread Spectrum Wireless Data Transceiver User Manual
Radio Transmission Characteristics
The Edit Radio Transmission Characteristics option allows the user to modify the radio transmission
characteristics of the transceiver. This option is
only
for the sophisticated user who has a good
understanding of the principles of radio data transmission.
The settings for the Slave(s) and Repeater(s) not determined by the Master are RF Xmit Power, Slave
Security, Retry Time Out, Hop Table size, version, and offset.

in the Radio Parameters menu allows the user to modify the hopping patterns of the
transceiver. There are 15 choices available for the Frequency Key (0-9 and A-E), representing 15
different pseudo-random hop patterns. This is to minimize the interference with other FreeWave
transceivers operating in the area. For instance, if there were 10 pairs of FreeWave transceivers
operating on different networks in close proximity, setting different FreqKey values reduces the chance
that transceivers will hop to the same frequency slot. Additional separation can be configured by setting
the Repeater Frequency in Menu (5) MultiPoint Parameters. There will always be intermittent cases
where two transceivers will hop to the same frequency slot, but the next hop would be to a different
frequency slot.
After selecting

FreqKey and then selecting

or additional options, the Hop Table Parameters will
appear at the bottom of the window. This menu provides additional options to use different portions of the
902-928 MHz band.
