Installation • Operation

6

8.  Install the provided check valve:

•  DO NOT overtighten!

•  DO NOT remove the plugs!

9.  Install the elbows in the main water supply line.

Point them toward the pump. See Figure 2.

Risk of burst hose and flooding . Do not

install booster using flexible hoses. Use only rigid piping
that meets all applicable codes.
10. Install piping from elbows to pump including a

union in each line. Install the supplied check valve
in the pump inlet. The male end of the check valve
must insert into the pump inlet (see Figure 2). If not
already installed elsewhere in the plumbing system,
install a pressure relief valve in the pump discharge
line capable of passing the full pump flow at 100 psi
(689 kPa). If local code requires installation of a
differently-rated pressure relief valve, follow the
code requirements.

11. With all pipe and fittings installed and sealed, turn

on the main water supply slowly to pressurize the
system and check for leaks. If any leaks appear,
turn the main valve off, open a faucet to relieve the
pressure, and repair the leak. Repeat this step until
there are no leaks in the system.

12. Open a faucet to release the air from the pipes and

allow water to flow. When a steady stream of water
flows out of the faucet, the pump is full of water and
fully primed. Close the faucet.

13. Before continuing with the installation, see the

sections of this manual titled Electrical Connection
and Operation for detailed information on how the
system functions.

14. At this point, you can plug in the pump for the

first time.

15. To start the pump:

a.  Press the “SET” button to select the desired

pressure (50, 60, or 70 PSI). See Figure 3.

b.   Press the “ ” button. The pump will start.

16. When the pump stops running (after it shuts off

automatically), the system is at the selected pressure.
Inspect the pipe and fittings again for water leaks. If
any leaks appear, press the “ ” button, unplug the
pump, turn the water main valve off, open a faucet
to relieve the pressure and repair the leak. Repeat
this step until there are no leaks in the system.

Electrical Connection

Risk of dangerous or fatal electric shock .

Plug the pump into a 115 Volt, 60 Cycle, Ground Fault
Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected grounded outlet only.
The pump is equipped with a 3-wire grounded cord and
plug. Do not modify or remove the plug. Make sure the
outlet meets the National Electric Code or the Canadian
Electrical Code, as applicable. To avoid dangerous
electrical shock hazard, keep the cord dry at all times.

Operation

Pump Controller

The pump controller is an integral part of the pump. The
controller protects against run-dry operation, overheating,
and pressure drop. It senses output water pressure and
controls water pressure by varying the motor speed.
The pump controller features an LCD display, LED’s, and
push button controls, as shown in Figure 3.

The features and controls available are:
“RESET” button resets control panel faults and allows the
pump to restart.
“SET” button is used to select a desired parameter when
it is presented on the LCD.
“ ” button is the start/stop button. When the button
is pressed for start, “ON” will be displayed. When the
button is pressed for stop, “OFF” will be displayed.
“MENU” button is used to toggle through each available
parameter controlled by the pump.
“LINE” LED: Green indicates that voltage is present and
the pump is pumping. Orange indicates that voltage
is present and the pump is in standby mode or the
“OFF” condition.
