CONFIGURING THE DATA LOGGER TELEMETRY
TOOLBOX SOFTWARE
Normally your HDL1 data logger will be provided by FTS pre-configured and
programmed to your specifications; however, if you wish to modify or reconfigure the
data logger you will need a copy of the Toolbox software. Toolbox will work through
either a direct connection between your computer and the data logger or through
FTS telemetry.
TOOLBOX will allow you to:
Set or get the data logger time
Change the password
Send a program to the data logger
Get a program from the data logger
Examine the audit log
Determine the amount of stored data
Configure the telemetry port
Communicate with SDI sensors in native SDI format
Read sensors and variables using their program names
Get other technical information from the data logger
Note that the HDL1-G5 does not have an externally visible telemetry port. The
HDL1-G5 telemetry port is internal to the data logger and is preconfigured as
GOES/GPS telemetry in order to work with the built-in GOES transmitter.
If modifications are made to the HDL1 programming, ensure that the HDL1's external
telemetry port is configured to reflect its intended use.
Configuration of both the HDL1-G5 s internal telemetry port and the HDL1 s external
telemetry port is done through Toolbox. The following Toolbox commands operate
on both the HDL1 and HDL1-G5
GET TELEMETRY CONFIGURATION
The Toolbox Get Telemetry Configuration command will call the data logger and
then display the data logger s telemetry port settings.
If making only minor changes to the telemetry port settings, use the Get Telemetry
Configuration command prior to making the changes. This will allow you to edit the
existing settings without having to re-enter the settings that do not need to be
changed.
GET TELEMETRY PORT STATUS
The Toolbox Get Telemetry Status command will call the data logger and return a
screen showing the status of the data logger s telemetry port. Information returned
from this call will depend on how the telemetry port is configured.
