Network administration features
Fiery X2 software has several important features that affect you as a network or printer
administrator:
•
Direct (native) support of NDS (Novell Directory Services) with NetWare 4.x
NetWare 4.x can also be supported in bindery emulation.
•
Simultaneous NetWare 4.x and NetWare 3.x connections
One NetWare 4.x NDS tree and up to eight NetWare 3.x bindery servers (or
NetWare 4.x servers in bindery emulation mode) can be connected to the Fiery X2.
•
Fiery utilities (Fiery Spooler™, Fiery Downloader™, Fiery Scan™, and Fiery Print Cali-
brator™) for Windows and Mac OS computers
The Fiery utilities can be run from Windows 95, Windows NT, and Mac OS comput-
ers.
•
Fiery WebTools™ (Status, WebSpooler, WebLink, and Installer)
Fiery WebTools allow you to manage the Fiery X2 from the Internet or from your
company’s intranet. To use the Fiery WebTools, you need to set certain options in Net-
work Setup and Printer Setup.

Job tracking
Job Logs can include two user-entered Notes fields.
•
Color calibration options
Calibration is available remotely from Windows or Mac OS computers with Fiery
Print Calibrator. With Fiery Print Calibrator, you can customize calibration targets to
suit your printing needs. For information about calibration with a densitometer, see
the
User Guide.

CMYK simulation options
Users can use CMYK simulation to adjust Fiery X2 color output to DIC, Euroscale, or
SWOP targets. With Fiery Print Calibrator, you can create custom simulations to suit
your printing needs. Users can also select a simulation on a job-by-job basis.
