DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE
STARTING AND WARMING UP
THE ENGINE
(Mechanical gearbox)
Before starting the engine, make sure
that the alarm system and all electrical
devices with high power absorption are
turned off.
• Ensure that the handbrake is engaged.
• Put the gearshift lever into neutral.
• Fully depress the clutch pedal without
pushing the accelerator.
• Turn the key to position II and wait for
the words Check OK to appear on the
multi-function display.
• Turn the key to position III and release
it as soon as the engine starts.
Do not hold the key turned to position III
for a long time.
If the vehicle fails to start, turn the key
back to position
0 before repeating the
procedure.
• In the event that the words Check OK
are not displayed, turn the key back
to position
0 , wait a few seconds and
retry.
• After the engine has started, the words
Check OK will be displayed.
If the engine fails to start after several
attempts, check for one of the following
causes:
• insufficient speed of the starter motor
(flat battery);
• ignition device faulty;
• faulty electrical contacts;
• blown fuel pump fuses.
Do not run the engine at high RPM until
the engine oil temperature has reached
at least 65÷70 °C approximately.

When the engine has started:
• Fully depress the clutch pedal and
move the gearshift lever to

st
gear.
CAUTION
Use the
1
st
gear for parking and for
uphill starts.
