Shortening the transmission shaft
Establish the shortest operating dis-
tance between the tractor and the ma-
chine.
This is achieved if:
1. The PTO shaft connections of the
tractor and machine are at the
same height.
PTO shaft connections at the same
height
2. The machine and tractor are posi-
tioned in the tightest turning angle.
Cornering as tightly as possible
Pull the two halves of the transmission
shaft apart.
Attach each half to the corresponding
connection.
Hold the two halves of the transmission
shaft side by side.
Mark the measurement
On the outer shield pipe, mark a meas-
urement 'a' of 25 mm from the edge of
the inner shield pipe.
Shorten the outer shield pipe.
Shorten the inner shield pipe and both
profile tubes by the same amount.
Pay particular attention when shorten-
ing plastic-coated profile tubes to make
sure that the cut surface does not get
too hot. If it gets too hot, the coating
could burn and the transmission shaft
could then seize during use.
Deburr and clean the cut ends.
Grease the inner profile tube.
Check that the profile tube overlaps at
its longest operating state. It must be at
least half of the length when pushed to-
gether.
