2. Maintenance
Please note that as a basic rule, power tools should only be
repaired, serviced and checked by qualified electricians, since
repairs carried out improperly can be a serious hazard for the
user (BGV A2). Check tests have to be carried out according
to DIN VDE 0702-1. After repair the regulations laid down in
the German Industrial Standard DIN VDE 0701 Parts 1/09.00
must be complied with.
Only use original FEIN spare parts. Please read safety
instructions No. 3 41 30 054 06 1 thoroughly!
The relevant German Industrial Insurers’ accident prevention
regulations or equivalent must be complied with when starting
up, using and servicing the machine. Correct usage of technical
tools is as stipulated by the German Technical Equipment
Safety Act.
2.1 General maintenance work:
●
Check that connection cable (580) is not damaged!
●
Blow out the motor with dry compressed air.
●
Check the carbon brushes (see section 2.2).
2.1.1
Maintenance intervals:
After approx. 300 operating hours:
2.1.2 Clean the machine. Blow out or brush out the brush
holder and insulated parts. Grease roller bearings as
shown in the table on page 7.
2.1.3 Renew the gear grease. Please use only special grease
from FEIN as shown in the table on page 7.
Depending on the type of duration of use, but at the
latest after 6 months of operation:
2.1.4 Clean the machine thoroughly. Wash out the ball
bearing and gears with a cleaning agent and apply fresh
lubricant (see page 7).
Warning:
Only dry-clean electrical parts!
Damage caused by improper handling, over-load or normal
wear and tear is not covered by the guarantee. The guarantee
covers damage caused by material or manufacturing faults.
2.2
Changing the carbon brushes
The machine is fitted with carbon brushes that switch
off automatically. Once the carbon brushes have
reached the permissible minimum length, the current
supply is cut off. When checking the carbon brushes,
make sure that they are inserted again in the same
position and can be moved easily in the brush holder.
If the carbon brushes have worn down to a length of
7 mm they should be replaced by new ones.
Only use original FEIN carbon brushes!
Allow new carbon brushes to run-in first for
15 minutes without any load.
2.3
Exchanging the mains connection cable
Remove the screws (500). Remove the cover (550).
Remove the cable clamping piece (10) and screws (20).
Disconnect the mains connection cable from the
connection clamps. Assemble a new mains connection
cable in the reverse sequence.
3. Electrical Function Test
3.1
Small function test
3.1.1
Checking the safety interlock
●
With its power switch in the ON position, connect
the machine to the mains.
Machine should not start
–
otherwise the
electronics module is defective!
●
Switch the machine OFF, and ON again.
Machine must now start.
3.1.2
Check the
no load strokes.
●
For strokes see technical data.
