Owner’s Manual and Service Guide
Read all of manual to become thoroughly familiar with this vehicle. Pay particular attention to all Notes, Cautions and Warnings
A low oil pressure indicator light (if equipped) is located
between the key switch and the fuel gauge or low fuel
indicator light. The light illuminates when the oil pressure
gets low.
SERVICING THE VEHICLE
To prevent severe injury
or death, resulting from
improper servicing tech-
niques, observe the following Warnings:
Do not attempt any type of servicing operations
before reading and understanding all notes, cau-
tions and warnings in this manual.
Any servicing requiring adjustments to be made
to the powertrain while the motor is running must
be made with both drive wheels raised.
Wear eye protection when working on
the vehicle. In particular, use care
when working around batteries, or
using solvents or compressed air.
To reduce the possibility of causing an electrical
arc, which could result in a battery explosion, turn
off all electrical loads from the batteries before
removing any heavy gauge battery wires.
To prevent the possibility of motor disintegration,
never operate vehicle at full throttle for more than
4 - 5 seconds while vehicle is in a “no load” condi-
tion.
It is in the best interest of both vehicle owner and servic-
ing dealer, to carefully follow the procedures recom-
mended in this manual. Adequate preventative
maintenance, applied at regular intervals, is the best
guarantee for keeping the
E-Z-GO vehicle both depend-
able and economical.
BREAK-IN
An initial oil change is required at 100 hours. Check for
oil or fuel leaks that could have developed in shipment
from the factory. As in normal driving, avoid full throttle
starts and rapid acceleration until the engine has
achieved operating temperature.
All engines consume more oil than normal during the first
hours of operation. As internal moving parts are run in, oil
consumption should gradually decrease until the rate of
consumption stabilizes. All engines use some oil even
when in perfect condition and properly broken in.
During the initial period, check the oil level at least every
8 operational hours (Ref. Fig. 10 on page 7). Add oil if the
level on the dipstick indicates that oil is in the add oil
range.
Do not overfill the engine. Too much oil
may cause smoking or allow oil to enter
the air filter enclosure.
Both the oil dipstick and fill cap must be in
place before operating the engine. Failure to
install the dipstick and fill cap will result in oil becoming contam-
inated and/or being discharged into the engine compartment.
The oil should be changed after the first 100 hours of
operation and should be drained while the engine is
warm. See POWERTRAIN MAINTENANCE for checking
oil level and oil changing procedures.
TOWING
Tow bars to fit vehicles are available from the E-Z-GO
Service Parts Department.
Place direction selector in neutral. The
neutral lock, located on the rear axle,
should be used to lock the direction selector in position (Ref.
Fig. 11 on page 8). This will prevent it from moving into forward
or reverse while being towed, causing damage to the rear axle.
To prevent personal inju-
ry, do not ride on vehicle
being towed.
Do not attempt to tow the vehicle with ropes,
chains or any device other than a factory
approved tow bar. Towing a disabled vehicle can
be dangerous and requires extra caution.
Attempting to tow with devices other than an
approved tow bar may result in severe personal
injury or death.
