Troubleshooting
If the device is not working properly, please check whether you are able to rectify the
problem yourself
fi
rst.
Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself!
Problem
Potential cause/solution
The device is not
working.
• The mains plug has not been correctly inserted in the
socket.
• Is the socket defective? Try another socket.
• Check the fuse for your mains connection.
• The cover has not been properly closed and has not locked
into place. If it cannot be closed, the coffee compartment
or the permanent
fi
lter may not be correctly inserted in the
device or the permanent
fi
lter lid is not properly closed.
• Is there suf
fi
cient water in the water tank?
• Is the device overheated? Wait a few minutes between two
brewing processes for the device to cool off before using
it again.
The glass pot over-
fl
ows.
The water tank is over
fi
lled. Keep an eye on the
MAX
mark on
the water level indicator.
The device is not
brewing coffee or the
brewing process is
very slow.
• No coffee has been added to the permanent
fi
lter.
• The glass pot is not correctly positioned on the heating
plate.
• The device must be decalci
fi
ed (see chapter “Cleaning
and decalcifying”).
Timer: The device
doesn’t start at the
set time.
If the display isn’t illuminated, the timer has not been activat-
ed. Follow the instructions in the chapter “Use”, section “Timer
function” exactly.
Unusual odour.
The
fi
rst time liquid circulates through the coffee maker, this
may produce an unusual odour. This is normal and is attribut-
ed to production residues. For this reason, you should operate
the coffee maker with water (without coffee powder) several
times before using it for the
fi
rst time in order to rinse out the
device’s lines (see chapter “Start-up”).
