Cleaning and decalcifying
ATTENTION!
■
The permanent
fi
lter and the coffee compartment are hot after use! Let them cool off
before removing them for cleaning.
■
Risk of injury! The grinder blade is sharp. Be careful when cleaning and stay on the
safe side by using a brush.
■
Prior to each cleaning, pull the mains plug out of the socket.
■
Never submerge the main unit, the mains cord or the plug in water. The main unit is
not suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher.
■
When cleaning, do not use any scouring or abrasive cleaners. They could damage
the surface.
1. Ensure that the main unit is switched off and not connected to the mains supply!
2. Turn the coffee compartment slightly counterclockwise
and pull it out of the device.
3. Remove the permanent
fi
lter.
4. Pour the coffee powder out of the coffee department and
dispose of it.
5. Rinse the permanent
fi
lter, the coffee compartment and
the glass pot out with warm water and, if necessary, a
small amount of detergent. You can also clean these parts
in the dishwasher.
6. Let all parts dry completely before you put them back in the device. After you have
inserted the coffee compartment, turn it clockwise slightly until it is properly in place.
7. When needed, wipe off the main unit with a damp cloth and wipe it with a dry cloth.
Decalcifying
You should decalcify the device if water is only circulating very slowly or the device is
making more noise than usual during the brewing process. Use a commercially-available
decalci
fi
er for coffee makers for decalci
fi
cation.
1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of water and decalci
fi
er and turn the device on (with-
out coffee powder/beans). Consult the decalci
fi
er instruction manual to determine the
ratio of water to decalci
fi
er.
2. Let the mixture completely circulate through the device. Repeat the process if the
water still circulates slowly.
3. After you have
fi
nished decalcifying the device, allow water to circulate through the
device at least three times (without coffee powder/beans) in order to rinse the lines
etc.
