Installing the MGLS

Care@Home™ Indoor Magnetic Sensor User Guide

You can install the two MGLSs included in the kit as follows:

On the main entrance door: The MGLS should be installed on the door from the inside of the
premises out of reach of normal activity such that

On the refrigerator door(s): For standard refrigerators, the MGLS should be installed out of
reach of normal activity such that:

For side-by-side refrigerators, install the smart magnetic sensor on one main door and the
permanent magnet on the other main door.

9.

Clean the surfaces of the mounting locations thoroughly. Make sure the locations are dry.

NOTE:

Refer to

Using Screws

 in

Appendix A,

on page 16, for information about

installing the MGLS using screws.

10.

Install the smart magnet sensor using mounting-tape:

a.

Peel off the protective strip from the mounting-tape of the smart magnet sensor.

b.

Press the smart magnet sensor into place.

c.

Position the smart magnetic sensor and the permanent magnet at the same level, so that the
alignment marks on the sides are in alignment, as illustrated in the following figure.

The distance between the two parts of the device may vary from installation to installation,
depending on the surface. For example, the molding on a door or window frame or the
distance between the surfaces of a refrigerator door(s), due to rubber insulation, can require
the smart magnetic sensor to be closer to the permanent magnet than the sensor would be in
other installations.

The two units of the MGLS must be placed, at most, 3 cm (1.2 in.) from each other.
