Quality-of-service/voice-quality issues
–
A customer using the Internet to transport the voice can expect some voice-quality issues. Check
the connection’s bandwidth utilization of the connection (and recommend that the customer
increase the bandwidth). Using
Esi-Networx
or the
PING
and
TRACERT
utilities will also help you
to narrow the problem down to the unreliable path the packets are required to take while moving
across the Internet.

If the customer is using a dedicated or point-to-point connection,
Esi-Networx
can check both the
bandwidth utilization and the end-to-end latency of the line. Normally, the connection will become
saturated due to increased data traffic. Refer the customer to his/her SLA

and/or CIR to
determine the point-of-contact, to get the issue corrected.

Use
Esi-Check
to monitor the quality of the IP connection over time. The user can instantly view the
quality of the link by noting the color of the
Esi-Check
icon in the
Windows
system tray.
