Appendix III:
Installing the TCP/IP
protocol in
Windows 95/98
Important:
Have the PC’s
Windows
CD-ROM close at hand, in case
Windows
requires files from it during
this procedure.
1.
Click on
Start
, choose
Settings
, then choose
Control Panel
.
2.
Double click on the
Network
Icon. The
Network
dialog box appears. Select its
Configuration
tab.
3.
Click the
Add
button.
4.
Double-click on
Protocol
.
5.
Highlight
Microsoft
under the list of Manufacturers.
6.
Find and double-click
TCP/IP
in the list to the right.
7.
After a few seconds, the main
Network
window will appear. The TCP/IP Protocol should now
be listed.
8.
Click
OK
.
Windows
may ask for the original
Windows
installation files. Supply them as needed.
9.
Windows
will ask you to restart the PC. Click
Yes
.
Important:
Windows NT
and Windows 2000 require Administrator rights to install the TCP/IP protocol. We
recommend that a
Windows NT
/
2000
-qualified technician perform this task on a PC running
either
Windows NT
or
Windows 2000
.
