END LINE WITH
You may choose between CR ONLY and CR AND
LF. Choosing CR ONLY (Carriage Return) means
that line feeds must be inserted by the printer.
Selecting CR AND LF (Carriage Return and Line
Feed) means that line feeds are to be transmitted
by the MPC with the data. Refer to your printer
manual for the required setting. The default setting
is CR ONLY.
BAUD RATE
The Baud Rate refers to the data transmission
speed. The Baud Rate can be any of the following
seven values: 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600,
or 19200. Refer to your printer manual for the
required setting. The default Baud Rate is 1200.
PRINTING OPTIONS
The four printing options available on the MPC are
described below. The Operating Instructions
Section of this appendix provides a complete listing
of how to use each option.
PRINTING A SINGLE REPORT
There are two modes in which a single report can
be printed, MANUAL and AUTO. The “PRINT”
command in the MAIN MENU will allow you to select
the mode. The default mode is MANUAL.
If MANUAL mode is selected, the report indicated
by “REPORT #” will be printed when the “PRINT”
command in the REJECT REPORTS menu is
pressed. Pressing “PRINT” does not erase the
report. If “AUTO” Mode is selected, the report is
printed automatically after a reject occurs.
PRINTING MULTIPLE REPORTS
When the “PRINT ALL REPORTS” command is
selected in the PRINT OPTIONS menu, the last
100 reports that were logged are printed in
numbered sequence.
In the PRINT OPTIONS menu, the “CANCEL PRINT
REPORTS” command clears the “PRINT ALL
REPORTS” command. If you select “PRINT ALL
REPORTS,” and a problem occurs which interferes
with printer response (for example, the printer is out
of paper), then selecting the command “CANCEL
PRINT REPORTS” will clear the transmission to the
printer. Otherwise, if the “CANCEL PRINT REPORTS”
command is not selected, the transmission will
automatically continue the next time the printer is on
line. The “CANCEL PRINT” command does not
erase the reports in the MPC memory.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The following is a list of instructions for accessing
each of the four print features described above.
Configuring the printer cable and setting up the
MPC for your particular printer are two steps that
are required for all four features.
NOTE: The settings in the SETUP PRINTER menu
and the PRINT OPTIONS menu can only be
changed if the Engineer Level password has been
entered. If this password has not been entered,
using the “INCR” or “DECR” key will cause the
PASSWORD screen to appear. The correct Engi-
neer Level password can then be entered.
CONFIGURING PRINTER CABLE
The following steps are required to configure the
cable from your printer:
1.
Refer to the manual for your particular printer
to determine the Ground line, the Receive Data
line, and the Clear-to-Send line.
2.
Connect the Ground line from the printer to
the ground terminal of the MPC printer port.
3.
Connect the Receive Data line from the printer
to the TXD terminal of the MPC printer port.
4.
Connect the Clear-to-Send line from the printer
to the CTS terminal of the MPC printer port.
